The department R&D Observations and Data technology optimizes the quality and effectivity of geophysical observing systems and data (from sensor to services) and is focal point for the knowledge and innovation in this field For our team of scientists that is developing KNMI’s International Climate Services we are looking for a postdoctoral researcher. One of our important products in the area of International Services is the European Climate Assessment & Dataset (ECA&D) which collects, processes and analyses surface climate observations in Europe.  For other parts of the world where the availability of regional climate information is still limited, the same concept is applied in the International Climate Assessment & Dataset (ICA&D). These services are embedded in the WMO and collaborate with EUMETNET in e.g. the Copernicus Climate Change Service project. While the station-based observations are at the core of the service, the gridded datasets are its flagship. The research groups in the R&D department take part in various international collaborations, primarily inside Europe but increasingly outside Europe as well.
