Migration is high on the political agenda. It is important for the regional economy and society as a whole. Migrants need housing the moment they arrive in the Netherlands. This has become an increasingly urgent issue, partly due to increasing regional housing market shortages.

As an employee at the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency in The Hague, you contribute to research into the way in which various migrant groups operate and move within the housing market. You will work together with colleagues from the Department of Human Geography, Planning and International Development Studies (GPIO) at the University of Amsterdam (UvA); your research is explicitly intended to culminate in a PhD degree.

The PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency wants to contribute to a better understanding of the positive and negative effects of migration and the consequences for the housing market. You will be expected to spend part of your working week at the PBL, but you will also spend 1-2 days at the UvA. In addition to the salary, you receive a so-called individual choice budget (ICB). The ICB consists of funds (16.37% of your gross annual salary) and time. You can use the ICB to make the choices that suit your preferences and you can decide on some of your employment conditions yourself. For example, you can opt to have part of your monthly income paid out at a date of your choosing. You can also convert this budget into leave — and the other way round — or spend it on tax-friendly causes.
