Job description
Since 2007 the United Nations Development Programme and the Central Bank of Turkmenistan has been implementing the joint project "Support to Accounting System Modernization” aimed at improving the accounting system in the banks through the introduction of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The main results of cooperation are:
increased capacity of the national banking specialists in the field of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS);
support in drafting of chart of accounts, forms of the financial statements, guidelines for the application of international accounting standards and
technical assistance provided to 2 (two) pilot banks in IFRS transition. In addition, in November 2009 the Central Bank of Turkmenistan approved Action Plan for the transition of the banking system into IFRS until 2012.
In order to successfully implement the activities foreseen in the abovementioned Plan, the project is planning to hire the international consultant to provide technical assistance to another 9 (nine) commercial banks in the conversion of the financial statements into IFRS.
Duties and Responsibilities
Objectives
The main objective of the international consultant is to provide the staff and management of the banking sector of Turkmenistan with hands on practical advice and technical assistance regarding the transition of financial reporting to IFRS.
